"We only stayed one night at Ardwyn House, and we were so sad to leave! Mary is beyond an excellent host, who is kind, warm, and full of interesting stories. We really enjoyed spending time with her. She picked us up from the train station and showed us around. She also gave us great restaurant advice! We absolutely loved drinking tea with her in the afternoon which was beautifully prepared. The house is warm and inviting, the room and bathroom were very clean. We loved the art deco character of the house! There were fresh flowers in our room, and candies...we really loved all the little touches and thought Mary put into our stay. Breakfast was also wonderful, she really makes sure you have everything that you could want! Thanks for everything Mary! This is a great place to stay if you are taking the Tranzalpine to and from Greymouth."
"I stayed for three nights there. Mary picked me up from the station and dropped me off there on the last morning. Single bed room was spacious and I could sea from the window. Bathroom was clean. Actually, I was a little nervous when I arrived at Greymouth, because it was my first time to stay at B&B and my English wasn't so good. However, Mary's hospitality made me feel better. Her works of cross-stitch are cute and beautiful! Some of them were put on walls. I liked blue birds one and I started cross-stitching next day. I spent whole afternoon doing it though it was small one...Mary sometimes teach me and served tea. I wonder if I bothered her sitting in the living room for so long hours? I really had a good time at Ardwin House and would like to come back."
"I was the only guest for two of my three nights stay. Mary made me feel very welcome in every way, a home away from home with comfortable crackling fire and interesting conversation. The single room was comfortable, large wardrobe, and the sound of the pounding waves could be heard always. Breakfast was yummy, particularly the cooked egg, bacon and tomatoes. Value for money was a highlight, as was Mary's generosity and hospitality. Very clean too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ardwyn House to anyone, and have done so already. Wendy"
"We arrived in the midst of a cold, driving rain. Mary had a roaring wood fire in the fireplace and was serving tea and biscuits to a couple of guests chatting with her in her cozy living room. Of course she invited us to join them -- a perfect welcome. In fact, tea and biscuits and friendly conversation punctuated our visit frequently. The upstairs bedrooms are clean and spacious, and there was a large clothes closet with plenty of hangers. The shared bathroom was a minor inconvenience, with a second WC at the foot of the stairs. Beautiful towels. We were able to do a laundry and store some food items in the refrigerator. Nothing inconvenienced our generous hostess. The vintage home is gorgeous and Mary tells good stories. We loved our stay and recommend Ardwyn House enthusiastically."
