Property Description

Days Bay, Eastbourne romantic hideway in the treetops overlooking Wellington harbour. Ride our private cable car through native bush to FernTree Hideaway. Enjoy sparkling sea views; wake to bellbird song; breakfast on your garden patio. Relax indoors with books, TV, DVDs, CDs.

Your self-contained guest apartment has an open plan lounge/dining/kitchenette, luxury bathroom with shower over bath and free Wi-Fi.. It's a 200 metre stroll to Days Bay beach, award-winning cafes and art galleries. Days Bay ferry to Central Wellington (20 minutes) berths near Te Papa and The Stadium. The Inter-island ferry terminal is a 20 minute drive.

Roger is a geologist and Robyn a writer, and we are happy to help with suggestions for your Wellington visit. From the guest book, 'This place is Dreamland - a Kiwi Shangri-la.' Breakfast provisions are optional. We have a minimum stay of 2 nights except for the period 18 Dec to 31 Jan when the minimum stay is 4 nights. Please enquire about longer term stays.

Days Bay is a favourite location for artists, writers, beach lovers, fishing enthusiasts, and home to the little blue penguin. Quaint historic cottages and modern homes overlook the bay's picturesque sheltered beach. Opposite the Days Bay wharf is Williams Park where you can picnic, feed the ducks and enjoy interesting cafe foodat the Pavilion, and live music on Sundays. The award-winning Cobar Restaurant is famous for its fine food, Cotti serves tasty lunches and Chocolate Dayz Cafe is another favourite. Van Helden Gallery offers a great selection of New Zealand art and craft, and Janet Andrews' evocative paintings can be seen at Southlight Studio. Hikers and bikers can enjoy the coastal track to historic Pencarrow Lighthouse. Matiu-Somes Island, just ten minutes by ferry from Days Bay, is an historical and scientific reserve and bird sanctuary. Vibrant Wellington city, Te Papa National Museum and The Stadium are a 20 minute ferry ride across the harbour.
