Paraparaumu is a coastal township about 45 minutes north of Wellington city.  It has a large shopping complex as well as a number of activites such as a skate park for the kids and an air field where you can participate in gliding or flying a small plane for an hour.  It is an ideal place to stay in a Bed & Breakfast just on the edge of the city.
