About Teiron Jones

A Welsh Kiwi, my career has been that of a professional singer, musician and music teacher. Having grown up in South America and the West Indies and having performed and taught music in the UK, twenty one years in Africa - ten in Zambia, ten on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, in Kenya and seven years in Oman, I recently returned to New Zealand to support my family and to share my love of music in the Taranaki Community by training choirs and a Steel Band, teaching singing and piano, teaching music as a therapy and singing as a soloist when requested to do so. Funds from the B+B will be used to support the Taranaki Sounds Good! project I started to help people in the community through music. Extremely fortunate and blessed to live in a place of unsurpassed beauty and closeness to the sea in a house belonging to but not occupied by my adult children, with several spare rooms I wanted to share the therapeutic tranquility and the constant sound of lapping waves I experience each day with travelers to our region. Where else would you find a B+B with its own music studio! Don't worry, I'll make sure our music doesn't disturb your peace and quiet during your stay at Ocean View!

Location Information

Waitara is a friendly town with most of the shops, clubs and sports facilities needed to make it fairly self-contained, and is a gateway to some of the finest fishing, surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and paddle-boarding on the West Coast! The impressive Waitara river flows from Mount Taranaki to the ocean via the Waitara river mouth where kawai, snapper and white bait are often caught in abundance and surfers chase the waves. Seals occasionally rest on the quiet Waitara beach in front of Ocean View. When conditions allow the river boat ramp gives fisher folk with boats easy access to the ocean deep where a plentiful harvest abounds. Waitara can be a base for enjoying the nearby walks of White Cliffs, those on and around Mount Taranaki, along the famous Taranaki Coastal Walkway and climbing Paritutu Rock. The spectacular parks of Pukekura, Pukeiti and Tupare, the iconic Len Lye Centre and the Pukeariki Museum welcome adventurous and inquisitive visitors. Taranaki is a Cultural Hotspot, annually hosting the WOMAD festival of world music, the Taranaki Festival of Lights and the Taranaki Multi-Ethnic Festival. Sports fans can enjoy the thrill of contest at Yarrow Rugby Stadium, participate in one of the many Round-The -Mountain running and cycling events, spin their wheels at the Bell Block Bike Park and Velodrome or take a splash in the ocean, river or at one of several swimming pools. If all this activity has made you tired you can just soak in the local Hot Mineral Pools or simply put your feet up and enjoy the vista at the Ocean View B + B and Homestay! No wonder Taranaki has been voted the second best place in the world to visit!
