Lesmahagow is a magnificent villa built by Peter McSkimming in 1914 and lovingly restored to its former glory. Sitting on 6,000m2 of private landscaped gardens, the property boasts 3 luxury rooms in the perfect setting to escape from the world. Only recently re-opened in 2020, you can now experience a piece of NZ history that has many modern conveniences such as central heating, a commercial kitchen, WIFI, unlimited cafe quality coffee but also a fresh water hot pool to relax in after a big day exploring the Clutha area.
Previously used as a premium wedding venue, Lesmagahow features an assortment of picturesque back drops to relax in or explore. For younger families the property also has plenty to offer, including a trampoline, children's fort, swing set, ride on cars and plenty of toys. There is also a small public children's playground next door and the historic Mc Skimmings kiln and brickworks is just down the road.
The home is broken into two wings, one for our guests whilst there other houses our young family & pets. Maintaining the property is a full time job so someone is always available should you need something. On weekends and evenings our two children are home however they have learnt to give you as much privacy as you need. Guest pets are allowed by arrangement.

Benhar is a short 3min drive north of Balclutha, the gateway to the magnificent Catlins nature area and only 35 minutes south of Dunedin airport. Benhar is a peaceful rural community which also boasts some historical sites such as the McSkimming's brick works which was founded in the 1800's and gutted by fire in the 1990's. For the keen environmentalists Lake Tuakitoto is close by providing a nature walk and wildlife spotting.
