"What an absolute stunning property Herons Rest is!...and Angus is such the perfect host...a warm welcome and information offered on the local attractions was very much appreciated..he even pointed us in the right direction to the local chocolate factory ( a sample was in our room) Very comfortable bed , excellent shower and generous breakfast and a fun fish and chips night with great conversation. We will definately recommend Herons Rest to other visiting this stunning area of NZ....Paul and Barbara, Paihia, Northland"
"It Feels like I'm coming home (away from home) Sometimes you get the opportunity to discover fabulous places................. Sometimes you get the change to meet extraordinary people.................... We were extremely lucky to experienced both. Heron's Rest is a wonderful place in the Golden Bay. Maureen & Angus welcomed us with open arms, and made us feel part of the family. From the moment that we met, we knew that this stay was a special one. You guy's were one of our highlights while visiting New Zealand. The BBQ at The Naked Possum on Friday night was fantastic. (say hallo to Jocelyn & Grant) Always nice to come as a stranger and leave as a friend. Thanks for having us and, I'm pretty sure, till the next. Helma & Co (from the lowlands) Deurne - Netherlands"
"We spent a month in NZ staying in Motels or preferably ,in Band B. Everywhere we were received warmly and with friendliness. Now that are back home we unanimously voted you the nicest Band B of them all. The view from the veranda, the living room, the rich breakfast, but more than anything else, your intelligent conversation: they all contributed to our judgment"

"Heron's rest was a delightful place to stay, the double room with ensuite was very well presented with everything you would expect in a hotel - it also had a great view. Really enjoyed the breakfasts and interesting to meet some other people travelling at the same time. Excellent value for money and I hope to stay there again. Graeme Doull - Jan 7, 2010"

"A surprising find in this special part of NZ. We had 2 wonderful nights in the Cottage - our home away from home. Angus was a gracious host and was a font of local knowledge for our walks and day trips to nearby places. The "Courthouse" was a wonderful restaurant and loved "Rosy Glow" chocolate shop. Enjoyed the beautiful beach near the Spit with the baby seals."
