Property Description

Following our experience in and passion for hospitality and tourism, hosts Matt and Naomi, and 2 year old Bella, welcome you to our Bed & Breakfast. We believe in good company, good food and good coffee - and you'll get it all when you stay with us.

We are recent additions to the Marlborough lifestyle, although we have been visiting family in the region for some years and have long since fallen for the place. Cohen the Cat and Ruby the Dog are also fans of the relaxing atmosphere of Marlborough and of course all those sunshine hours!

The Rev's Retreat began as a "one day we'll do it" dream. After the upheaval caused by the Christchurch earthquakes, Matt's parents suggested we care take their dream retirement home in sunny Marlborough. With Matt’s father being a Minister and residing in the Renwick vicarage, and a previous owner also being a Minister - the Rev's Retreat was born! The Revs Retreat has since grown up and moved out of home - we bought our own property, 1.5 blocks up the road.

The Rev's Retreat is situated in a quiet street just 5 minutes drive from the centre of Blenheim, and fantastic wineries. Stay in either our Superking Room with ensuite (can be split to 2 singles), our Queen Room, or our Single Room. Enjoy your continental breakfast in the comfortable breakfast room, or relax in the sitting room enjoying a glass of wine overlooking the Richmond Ranges and make use of our extensive DVD library. Take a quiet moment in the courtyard or cool down with a dip in the in ground swimming pool. Guest bedrooms are upstairs with views over the town to the Richmond Ranges or Wither Hills.

We can offer a range of additional extras including choices of espresso coffee made from Matt's own blend of roasted beans, family style dinners and desserts, and beverages. We are happy to help you find your way around Marlborough and can recommend many local events, wineries, festivals and places of interest to visit while you are here. Your continental breakfast includes homemade muesli plus 3 other cereals, yoghurt, fruit, home made preserves and toast, juice, espresso coffee, teas. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know how we may be able to help.

We are a smoke free home but you are welcome to smoke outside on the property.

Please note that we do not have credit card or eftpos facilities so we must ask for cash or direct debit payments only.

"The 3 of us stayed in the Single and Queen rooms and enjoyed the experience of staying in a family home with very helpful Matt and Naomie. The continental breakfast was extremely good and having a quiet room adjacent to the bedrooms was a handy space for reading. Good that the car could be left off the road and the town centre is a 5 min drive or a 25 min walk away, although other shops are somewhat closer. The household was very quiet and coffee available from the family kitchen at any time. We would recommend this B & B as a quiet place to stay, the 3 of us are retired and found it a really great experience, we would stay again."

"Matt and Naomi are young hosts (unusual at the homestays we've booked into over the past 9 years) and are very enthusiastic, gracious, and deeply committed to the hospitality industry. Their interest in providing an excellent experience shows in their attention to detail and eagerness to share both their house and its gardens as well as their local knowledge. Naomi offered us dinner, providing a varied menu to choose from even before we arrived, and both Matt and Naomi are terrific cooks. We felt welcome, comfortable, and "at home"! We will stay with them again and will highly recommend their homestay to others. We wish them every success!"

"Matt and Naomi helped us in every way to make our stay an unforgettable one! The garden is great for relaxing and a glass of wine. Beds are super comfy! All furniture looks brand new and the rooms are nicely decorated. This place is great for doing wine tours, M&N helped us with booking bikes and were able to recommend a few really nice wineries. Would definitely stay here again!"
