"Thank you Eleanor and Eric for a great experience in a unique location! Looking out the big bedroom window early morning at the quiet waters of the canal was beautiful. Your home is also beautiful - with big comfy chairs, all the mod cons we need including Wifi, extremely clean and well maintained. We did enjoy talking with you too. You have a good relationship with each other which is great to see. Harmony in the home produces harmony for the guests."

"We stayed with Eric and Eleanor in their beautiful home on 7th January 2012. We were approaching the end of a 6 week tour of New Zealand. They were both there to greet us when we arrived and were very welcoming. After freshening up we joined them for a drink, nibbles and a chat. Eleanor had already booked us into the restaurant on the lake nearby, which was a couple of minutes walk away and over the canal on a solar powered passenger ferry. Our room was lovely with views of the garden and the canal and the setting was very peaceful. The bed was really comfortable. You didn't want to get out of it. Breakfast is Eric's speciality and we had a choice of cereals, fruit and yoghurt followed by a very tasty cooked breakfast of bacon & eggs. Eric and Eleanor are such a lovely couple and great hosts that we decided to book in for our last night in New Zealand the following week. We stayed again on 15th January and weren't disappointed. We were glad we had spent our last night there. Our breakfast the following morning was bacon, pancakes and banana. Gorgeous. Eric will try and do a different breakfast each day. I would highly recommend this bed & breakfast and would definitely make sure we stayed here on another visit."

"Our hosts, Eric and Eleanor, gave us a very warm welcome and could not have been more hospitable. It was great to sit over a drink and talk to them, not only to learn more about the area but to get to know them. Our room was extremely comfortable with a super king bed. We were treated to a wonderfully cooked breakfast by Eric. our stay was very enjoyable and we could not have asked for more."

"This Homestay is so worth staying at. The beautiful home of Eleanor and Eric is purpose built on the edge of the canal. We were made so welcome just like home and yet had privacy if we needed it.Whether it was pre dinner drinks before going to the local Retaurant, rugby finals at 6.30am on Tv or Erics great breakfast it was all so appreciated. We own a BNB in Masterton and are very envious of the Weirs situation and home."

"We stayed at Lake Hood Homestay B&B on our last night in New Zealand after an enjoyable three week tour. We did not know what to expect from the description but we were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful home on a man made lake and canal system. We were made very welcome by Eleanor and Eric and greeted with tea and cakes. Our room was very comfortable and with a view of the water it rivalled any five star hotel experience. We had a lovely dinner at the friendly local restaurant on the lake. A first class breakfast was cooked by Eric and we were sorry that we could only stay one night. I would heartily recommend a stay here on the way to or from Christchurch."
