Kawatea is an elegant, carefully renovated home, built in 1900 from native timber's the house features stained glass windows, handcrafted furniture and much olde world charm.
Explore our 1500acre sheep and beef farm and feed the pet sheep. Observe birdlife on the estuary or walk along the scenic coastline to secluded swimming beaches and a seal colony. Learn about Maori culture and the life of early settlers at the acclaimed Okains Bay Museum. Visit Akaroa with its French influence, cafes and galleries. Golf, Kayak or cruise the Akaroa harbour to view Hector Dolphins.
Join us in the evening for creative country fare from our garden whilst sharing experiences with fellow travellers.
