Property Description

Shula's Lake House is a boutique Bed & Breakfast accommodation on the shores of Lake Rotorua providing all the comforts and relaxation of home with the luxuries of great food and friendly hospitality. Enjoy the quiet, tranquil setting away from traffic noise and sulfur fumes. Ginie and Bob's home offers fabulous panoramic views of Lake Rotorua, Mokoia Island, Mt. Tarawera, and the surrounding hills. Ngongotaha Stream, renown for trout fishing, is only metres away. Spend your time relaxing on the sandy beach, fishing, kayaking Lake Rotorua and the streams, or just sitting on the deck listening to the birds and waterfowl. You are only 7km from Rotorua Centre so all the tourist attractions, thermal wonders, and Maori cultural activities are close at hand.

Shula's Lake House assures a personalised stay, offering gourmet breakfasts and freshly baked goodies to enjoy with your tea and coffee. Upon arrival you will be greeted with the aroma of home baking. Breakfast is local fresh fruit, natural yoghurt and cereal followed by a cooked breakfast of Ginie's choice using the freshest ingredients such as free-range eggs and fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden. The home is tastefully designed and decorated with vibrant colours and comfortable furniture. Guests have full use of the lounge area for entertainment or relaxation.

We offer two type of rooms, either suite or double room. The two suites ( The Panorama Suite and the Cottage Suite) offer a bedroom with a queen bed, a sitting area with a single day bed and single trundle, and an ensuite or private bathroom. These rooms are wonderful for a couple wanting ample space for relaxation and comfort or a family. The Panorama Suite is an upstairs suite that has fabulous views over Lake Rotorua and a private balcony to enjoy the sun and moon rises. The Cottage Suite is in a private wing with garden views rather than lake views. The double room ( The Tui Room) is a large bedroom with a queen-size bed and an ensuite. The Tui Room has wonderful lake views and a sliding door that opens onto the outside deck. The decor of the rooms is warm colours accented with antique furniture, original artwork, and fresh flower arrangements from Ginie's gardens. Tea and coffee service is available in the rooms along with some of Ginie's freshly baked goodies. The linens are high quality 100% cotton and are air dried to ensure a restful night's sleep.

Bob and Ginie are avid travelers, kayakers and gardeners.
Ginie tutors English as a second language and enjoys cooking gourmet meals. Breakfast will be personalised to your tastes in any style from Southern American to Kiwi cuisine. Bob has a knack for nature and is a Senior Scientist at SCION in Rotorua.
Bob and Ginie are native to Northwest America, but have been living in Rotorua for 23 years.
Ginie has volunteered for Rotorua Citizen's Advice Bureau, and both have traveled extensively throughout the country, so they can offer advice on activities and travel.
