"Bruce & Nita were warm and welcoming hosts. We felt as if we were visiting old friends. Our room with private bath was comfortable, quiet and very nicely done. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Their home and garden are lovely, situated in a quiet residential area, right on the world famous Tongariro River. A path from their back yard leads to a nice walking path where you can enjoy river views or dip a line in the water for trout. Bruce is a passionate fisherman and I thoroughly enjoyed comparing fishing techniques in NZ with those in the US. Nita has a green thumb which is quite evident as you stroll their yard. We highly recommend Brown Trout House and wished we could have stayed longer!"

"Bruce and Nina deserve a rating of 10+! We called for reservations only 2 hr before arriving at Turangi. Nita had backed a cake and Bruce welcomed us with his own smoked fish caviar! While we soaked in the nearby hot pools, Nita had prepared a delicious dinner and we spent the evening around the fireplace in the living-room as if we were long family friends. We were sad to leave the next morning after a fantastic breakfast, a guided tour of the trout river behind the house and with many recommandations on what to do on our way to Tongario NP. Thank you Nina and Bruce again - people like you are life examples for us! Mireille and Gregory from Geneva Switzerland"

"We are three Dutch girls who stayed for three nights at the Brown Trout House in Turangi with the lovely people Bruce and Nita. We will give them the highest rating, 10, because it was absoluty good; very clean, nice beds, very extensive meals (dinner and breakfast!) and very nice people to stay with. We have had a lovely time there with also the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in the winter what was amazing to do and easy to go to from the Brown Trout House! Thanks Bruce and Nita. In Dutch: Bedankt en tot ziens! Love, Lieve, Jolijn and Jorie"

"We were bowled over by the hospitality extended to us by Bruce and Nita during our two night stay. The sun downers on the flower-decked veranda so welcome after our long drive on the first day and after walking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. That night Bruce and Nita cooked us a delicious evening meal of trout and vegetables from the garden. Bruce booked the Tongariro shuttle for us and Nita served us breakfast at 7am so we could drive to the shuttle pick-up in time."

"Bruce and Nita did welcome us as old freinds, to their lovely home. We had an excellent stay with good experiences, as well with arts as with the fantastic fishing in the Turangi river. Bruce as a very experienced fishermann did his best to show all the best fishing in the nearby area. Nita spoiled us with the best cooking that people can wish. If we ever come to New Zealand again - we will wish to stay here again."

"Nita and Bruce are very generous and thoughtful hosts. Their home is beautifully located so near the river and we were very comfortable staying with them. They helped us in seeking excellent restaurants and in visiting the immediate area. It was an ideal base for us away from more commercialised or busy areas. Greatly recommended.
