"March 2012 was our second stay at Berwick's Hill, this time for 3 nights. So it says a lot for Eileen and Roger and their home that we wanted to return. From the cup of tea in the lounge when you first arrive you are made to feel very welcome. Having the evening meal (great home cooking) with whoever happens to be there is what gives homestays and farmstays their special flavour, which we like. During our stay a single guy came for one night, starting with dinner. Turns out he was The Frugal Traveller of the New York Times and he wrote very appreciatively of the warm and lively atmosphere around the dinner table. We agree with him! If you are interested Roger will take you to see his Belted Galloway cattle. Berwick's Hill is outside Hokitika, but well worth those extra few kms.
