Our 1880s historic homestead is in a loverly rural setting just 10 min from Wanganui.
We have two rooms available and can add an extra bed for a child if required .
One room has a large ensuite, the other a shared bathroom.
The house is centrally heated.
There is a small reading room, opening onto the balcony with tea and coffee making facilities.
We offer a continental or cooked breakfast,with gluten free options available.
Feel free to wander the grounds, sample the fruit from the orchard ,check out the animals or visit the Fordell village and country pub,just a 20 min walk away.
Wanganui being one of the first settled places in New Zealand has some fine old buildings e.g the Opera House, Sarjeant Art Gallery and Whanganui Museum.
Travel the River road for an experience you wont forget, some say this is the best road trip they have ever had,or take a paddle steamer ride and view the town from the river.
We are only 2hrs from Wellington and the ski fields,a good base to explore the central North Island.
Fordell homestead is motor bike and campervan friendly.
