Welcome to Ranui Retreat. We are close to historic Oamaru and the main highway to Dunedin. Views of Otago rural landscape stretching to the Kakanui Mountains enhance the rural sense of this five acre property of mature oak, elm and ash trees. There is birdsong aplenty. Character rooms include rich, handmade quilts which add to the relaxed ambience. Join the family for the evening or you may like to retire to other spaces with music and a good book from our library selection.

"We stay at Ranui Retreat each time we come to NZ, which is usually once a year and for 4 or 5 nights. We love Ranui Retreat - the lovely warm welcome from Ken and Sheryl, , the fun and banter, fabulous food (poached fruit at breakfast is perhaps my favourite), restful garden and all in a great location near enough to Oamaru but out in the country. We have the downstairs ensuite room with Sheryl's wonderful patchwork quilt. The whole house is quirky in a good way. You do need a car or other transport. Plenty of trout fishing opportunities nearby if that's your sport. If you are very sensitive to traffic noise State Highway 1 may be a bit close. But for us, having noted it when we first arrive, it quickly ceases to intrude.
