Peace, tranquility, wonderful views and a very warm welcome await you at Ocean View, with its array of native birds and its beautifully landscaped gardens backing onto the Coromandel Forest Park. Thames is a great base from which to explore the stunning and varied scenery of the Coromandel Peninsula, or enjoy a quiet, relaxing break. Ten-minute walk to town centre, restaurants and the coast.
All the Peninsula's attractions are within 90 minutes drive of Thames. We recommend you spend at least two nights in this beautiful area to give yourself time to appreciate the range it offers:
* The museums and historic buildings of Thames, a key gold-mining town from the 1860s
* Safe and attractive beaches a short drive up the west coast
* The one-hour coastal drive from Thames to Coromandel Town, home of quality gift shops, restaurants and the Driving Creek Railway
* Hidden treasures such as Rapaura Water Gardens
* The white-sand beaches of the east coast, including intriguing Hot Water Beach and magical Cathedral Cove, featured in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
* Great walking; nearby Kauaeranga Valley boasts bush and riverside rambles from 15 minutes to all day - including The Pinnacles, rated one of NZ's top walks
* Fishing, both sea and river
We can arrange walks and cycle rides, or book you onto a local fishing charter boat with expert guides. Please enquire when booking
We look forward to seeing you at Ocean View, sharing our local knowledge and helping make your stay memorable.

"Julie and Steve were friendly, helpful hosts who shared their knowledge of the Coromandel enabling us to make the best use of our time in this area. Julie's homemade bread and pastries made the excellent breakfasts even more special and the self contained Ocean View Suite was a pleasure to stay in. An great place to start or end your holiday in New Zealand if travelling through Auckland airport. We would most certainly stay at Ocean View if visiting NZ again.
