"Stayed for two nights in February 2014. A wonderful hostess, so friendly. Erica even served us early morning tea in bed. the Secret Garden is in a very good location within easy walking distance of restaurants, the sea, the country and anything else you could want in lovely Akaroa. It's a fairly traditional style of B & B where you are very much in the owner's home. Spotlessly clean and quiet, except on Monday morning when the bin men make themselves known quite early. The room is a little small and short on storage space but very comfy."

"An all too brief stay at the Secret Garden in February 2013 during a quick tour from our base in Queenstown. Our hostess, Erica, had fascinating tales of the Christchurch earthquake, excellent hospitality and a refreshing philosophy. The property is most conveniently placed very close to the centre of this small picturesque town. If we pass this way again we'll make this a stop for sure!"

"Staying in the Secret Garden is like living in an art gallery -- but a lot more comfortable! Erica d'Stewart's delightful property is just a 30 second walk to the bay and the wharf. She made us SO welcome, with chocolates on our pillows, filtered water in the bedroom, lots of towels in the bathroom, books, suggestions and recommendations .Every time we came home, Erica would immediately make a pot of tea, usually accompanied by home made biscuits. And her continental breakfast is THE BEST with muesli, fresh fruit (including the biggest blackberries I've ever seen, picked by Erica), home-made bran muffins, freshly ground coffee, toast, nuts, yoghurt....and more! The Secret Garden is immaculate, cosy, beautiful, comfortable and brilliantly situated. Erica is warm, intelligent, welcoming and a great cook. Thoroughly recommend her B and B. Arkaroa was a highlight of our stay in New Zealand. Lindy and George, Perth, Western Australia"
