"From the moment we turned into the drive at Ashfields we thought we had stumbled into a little slice of paradise. The gardens are superb and very relaxing and the house is superb and immaculately kept. A large, light comfortable bedroom, a small but excellently stocked kitchen, a bathroom I would love to have at home with a large walk in shower and the largest lounge we encountered on our trip to New Zealand. It was a delight to stay there and we could easily have stayed a week (or more!). Kate cooked us some wonderful meals - much better than going into Whakatane 19 klms away. We could have taken these on our own private decking but Kate and Russ are such wonderful and interesting hosts that we took our meals with them. It was like staying with friends. Ashfields was certainly one of our favourite places during our whole 6 week trip."

"Recently I had the opportunately of staying at Ashfields. From the moment we drove through the gate and were greeted by Kate and Russ and their two beautiful very well behaved dogs Leo and cassie, we felt spoilt to be in such a beautiful setting with such lovely people. The accommodation is superb, every comfort is to be found here. I am not a good sleeper at the best of time but I slept like a baby, the bed and linen was beautiful to sleep in. We decided to have a very spoily time and had our lunch and dinner prepared and bought to our dining area which overlooked the beautiful garden and pool. Fresh produce was used for our meals which were presented beautifully and very tasty. Our breakfasts were continental, yummy.Cooked breakfast was available should you want it. (Thanks Kate) Value for money, there would be nothing around that would match this .I am planning to return to Ashfields in the very near future and do recommend a weekend away here. makes you feel a million dollars. Thanks again for sharing you lovely home and thanks Russ for your knowledge of the history of the area,we chatted about it for some time after arriving back at the Mount."
